global exchange

Global Xchange is back in Birmingham

Birmingham is hosting an international volunteer exchange between the UK and Morocco this

autumn. Nine young people (18-25) from each country will work together in pairs at local

community projects and live in local homes.

This is a great opportunity for all kinds of people and organisations to be involved in a unique and

valuable learning experience. You could be one of them. Here’s how ...

The team will arrive in Birmingham mid September and live and work here until December.

So between now and the end of August, we’ll be arranging all the details.

If you want to get involved, please get in touch and we can discuss how in more detail.

And if you know other people who might be interested, do pass on these contact details:

Two of the main elements of the exchange are ‘volunteer placements’ and ‘host homes.’

Global Xchange is a partnership

If you have a spare room for two volunteers to share,

you could have:

  • a fascinating international cultural experience
  • a unique educational opportunity
  • help around the house a weekly payment to cover your costs.

If your organisation could use two volunteers, you

would benefit from:

  • 10 weeks of enthusiasm a fresh perspective on how you work
  • the chance to kick-start new initiatives
  • an insight into Moroccan culture.

STAND UP AND TAKE ACTION
'Stand Up and Take Action' is a mass action in which millions worldwide take a stand against poverty. Last year, 43.7 million people in 127 countries took a stand. This year, don't just stand, take action as well. Make sure politicians and decision makers hear our call that they act on our demands.

Stand Up and Take Action Against Poverty and Inequality will take place over 3 days, Friday October 17 to Sunday October 19. The "counting" period will be at any time over those 3 days. Register your event and upload numbers directly to the Stand Up and Take Action website at www.standagainstpoverty.org

The Birmingham Event is at 2pm on Saturday 18th October in Victoria Square.

Please wear a white headband.
